This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. My site is down for rebuilding, but sooner or
later the old stuff should reappear at omeyer.gmxhome.de

Medium Tilt-Jet Utility Transport v1.0 (TL9)
  Copyright 2008 by Onno Meyer

Some cyberpunk games proclaim that vectored thrust aircraft are more
efficient than fixed or rotary wing aviation. That seems unlikely, but
sometimes style goes over substance ...
The Utility Transport is a VTOL aircraft with swiveling turbofans in
wingtip pods. It carries a pilot, a copilot, ten passengers and half a
ton of luggage with an operational radius of some 800 miles, depending
on the time spent hovering for takeoff and landing - on maximum thrust,
fuel consumption skyrockets. The avionics allow night and over-water
operations, but the Utility Transport is not ruggedized.
The turbofans burn 80 gallons of jet fuel per hour of routine use. A
load of fuel is $1,200.

Subassemblies: Body +4, three retractable Wheels +0, two Wings +2, two
  Pods +1.
Powertrain: Two 4,000-lb. vectored, afterburning, super turbofans;
  24,000-kWs advanced battery.
Fuel: 400 gallons jet fuel (fire 10).
Occ: 2 NCS, 10 NS. Cargo: 50 cf.

Design Notes
Body is 600 cf, with very good streamlining. Wheels are 30 cf, retract
into body. Wings are 48 cf each. Pods are 12 cf each. Structure is
medium and expensive. Armor is expensive metal. Self-sealing tanks.
Sealed structure. Computerized controls with duplicate maneuver
controls. There are 17.23 cf of empty space in the body and 17.55 cf of
empty space in each wing. Empty weight is 6,000 lbs.
The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [second edition, third
printing, Dec 2004 errata], VXi and VXii (including the armor volume and
ceiling rules) with the text format from Vehicles Lite.

Next Week: Probably a VIP variant.
