I agree. I think mailing lists are usually the best way to run PBEM's.
It makes it easy for everyone to get the messages and it also helps you
keep an archive of everything. Back when I was running on I used the
Yahoo mailing lists but I am sure there are other good ones out there
now too.

I'd also suggest keeping everything public. So even if you are running a
scene with only one player I'd post scene to everyone in the game. This
helps to keep everyone interested IMO.

Another site you might want to look at for running a PBEM is rpol.net.
They have a very good message board system setup for running game. I've
also found that they have a very strong GURPS community. You might even
want to think about joining a game or two there before starting one of
your own.
