This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. My site is down for rebuilding, but sooner or
later the old stuff should reappear at omeyer.gmxhome.de

Hybrid Spacefighter v1.0 (TL8/12)
  Copyright 2007 by Onno Meyer

Many science fiction backgrounds mix near future technology with a few
breakthroughs to allow interstellar travel. The craft described here has
a contragrav unit, a STL engine, and a FTL engine, all violating physics
as we know it, and an optimistic power storage cell.
The highly streamlined hull contains a cockpit with seats for a pilot
and a navigator, the sensors and a 25mm cannon in front and the engines
in the rear. The Hybrid Spacefighter carries four Advanced Medium Range
Space to Space Missiles on external pylons. It has a rechargeable power
cell storing 15 MWh. The power is consumed at a rate of 1 MW in n-space,
0.48 MW in hyperspace and 4.8 MWh for each hyperspace entry.
Depending on the game, the Hybrid Spacefighter could represent either
a first generation fighter, without power plant, or a second generation
fighter, carried on a larger starship for atmospheric strikes.
A full load of ammunition is $459,200.

The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [2nd edition, 3rd
printing, Dec 2004 errata], VXi and VXii (including the armor volume
rule) with the text format from Vehicles Lite. All components except
for those listed as TL12 are TL8.

Next Week: A true starfighter.
