This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. My site is down for rebuilding, but sooner or
later the old stuff should reappear at omeyer.gmxhome.de

Hybrid Scoutship v1.0 (TL8/12)
  Copyright 2007 by Onno Meyer

Many science fiction backgrounds mix near future technology with a few
breakthroughs to allow interstellar travel. The craft described here has
a contragrav unit, a STL engine, and a FTL engine, all violating physics
as we know it, and an optimistic power storage cell.
The streamlined spaceframe of the Hybrid Scoutship is divided into the
cockpit with four workstations, a cabin with two bunks, a cargo hold and
airlock and the engine room with a fission reactor. The typical crew are
a pilot, a navigator, an engineer and a mission specialist, but the life
support could handle up to six scouts. The Scoutship is capable of both
orbital surveys and surface landings on moons or earthlike worlds.
A full load of provisions is $4,800.

Subassemblies: Body +5.
Powertrain: TL12 20,000-lb. vectored reactionless thruster; TL12 100-ton

sAccel: 0.5 sMR: 0.5 Hyperspeed: 1 parsec per day

Design Notes
Body is 2,000 cf, with underbelly skids, very good streamlining and a
lifting body. Structure is light, advanced. Armor is advanced composite.
Sealed. Computerized controls with quadruple maneuver controls. There
are 23.8 cf of empty space. Empty weight is 36,000 lbs.
The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [2nd edition, 3rd
printing, Dec 2004 errata], VXi and VXii (including the armor volume
rule) with the text format from Vehicles Lite. All components except
for those listed as TL12 are TL8.

Next Week: A little FTL-capable fighter.
