It was similar to encountering a Grizzly Bear (but I never got that close to the Bear - and I wasn't about to stop and watch either).

I had a run in with a bald eagle on a forest service road in Kentucky
a few years ago.  I came over a hill, and the baldy was in the middle
of road, eating road kill, I guess.  I stopped before hitting it, it
turned around, and spread its wings, and cackled at us for a bit
before flying away.  Its wings took up almost the whole road!
