This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. My site is down for rebuilding, but sooner or
later the old stuff should reappear at omeyer.gmxhome.de

Hybrid Starfighter v1.0 (TL8/12)
Copyright 2007 by Onno Meyer
Many science fiction backgrounds mix near future technology with a few
breakthroughs to allow interstellar travel. The craft described here has
a contragrav unit, a STL engine, and a FTL engine, all violating physics
as we know it, and an optimistic power storage cell and isotope battery.
The Hybrid Starfighter has a boxy hull with the cockpit in front, the
tiny cabin and life support module in the center and the engine room in
the rear. It is armed with a 25mm gatling and ten Advanced Medium Range
Space to Space Missiles on external racks. A variant replaces the cargo
locker with life support for a third crewman, at the cost of even more
spartan accommodations.
The atmospheric performance of the Hybrid Starfighter is marginal. In
a game, it could represent either a first generation design, soon to be
replaced by much faster craft, or a second generation fighter optimized
for independent deep space operations - just the thing for Our Heroes.
A full load of ammunition and provisions is $1,131,200.
