This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. My site is down for rebuilding, but sooner or
later the old stuff should reappear at omeyer.gmxhome.de

Hybrid Recon Spacefighter v1.0 (TL8/12)
Copyright 2007 by Onno Meyer
Many science fiction backgrounds mix near future technology with a few
breakthroughs to allow interstellar travel. The craft described here has
a contragrav unit, a STL engine, and a FTL engine, all violating physics
as we know it, and an optimistic power storage cell.
The Recon Spacefighter carries a pilot, a co-pilot, two observers, and
specialized sensors for orbital surveys. It is armed with a 25mm gatling
cannon for air and space combat. The fighter mounts a rechargeable power
cell storing 15 MWh. The power is consumed at a rate of 1 MW in n-space,
0.48 MW in hyperspace and 4.8 MWh for each hyperspace entry.
In a game, the Recon Spacefighter justifies a mix of ground and space
adventures for a small group of heroes. In theory, there are two flight
crew and two dismount crew, but in practice both teams do both jobs.
A full load of ammunition is $14,400.

Design Notes
Finely made. Body is 500 cf, with very good streamlining, underbelly
skids, and a lifting body. Structure is medium and advanced. Armor is
advanced composite. Sealed. Computerized controls with dual maneuver
controls. There are 5.29 cf of empty space. 1,200 rounds of 25mm APDU
are stowed in the body. Empty weight is 18,000 lbs.

The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [2nd edition, 3rd
printing, Dec 2004 errata], VXi and VXii (including the armor volume
rule) with the text format from Vehicles Lite. All components except
for those listed as TL12 are TL8.
Next Week: A little naval warbot for Hal.
