Well, the sitation I envisioned is the guy comes up to a river, gets a goot 
run at it, and to continue across the river (or bog), the wheel slows down, 
and then inches the last bit to the shore.

It should also float, and have an wDecel...

What about a monowheel with an opening and/or closing sidewall?
