This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. With a slight delay, old vehicles appear
at http://omeyer.gmxhome.de/GURPSnet_files/summary.html

Kelso Starworks HydroSled v1.0 (GURPS Traveller TL8)
  Copyright 2006 by Onno Meyer

With a boat hull, two retracting skids and a 200-kW prop engine, the
Hydrosled is equally at home on snow, ice and shallow waters. It seats
two passengers in the hull and one helmsman in front of the engine pod,
where he can scan for underwater obstacles and channels through swamps
or marches.
At a routine travel speed of 30 mph on snow and 11 knots over water,
the engine burns 6 gallons of gasoline or diesel per hour. A full load
of diesel is $60.

Subassemblies: Body +2, Pod +1, two retractable Skids -1.
Powertrain: 200-kW aerial propeller; 200-kW turbocharged ceramic engine;
  4,000-kWs advanced battery.

Design Notes
Body is 76 cf with mediocre lines. Pod is 24 cf. Skids are 3.8 cf.
Structure is extra-light and standard . Armor is cheap and composite.
Waterproofed. Self-sealing tank. Mechanical controls. 31.23 cf empty
space in the body. Empty weight is 1,000 lbs.
The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [2nd edition, 3rd
printing, Dec 2004 errata] and VXii (the armor volume rule) with the
text format from Vehicles Lite. The Traveller rules affect the
background but not the technology of this design.

Next Week: Not completely sure yet.
