Hello,
I´ll take this as a chance to delurk and say hello to
the list.
Japanese translations:
iron - kurogane
wind - kaze
However, those are kun readings - how one would read
kanji if it were read by itself (ie: single words). If
you want to combine terms, then you want to use on
readings:
iron - tetsu
wind - fu, fuu
so the daisho´s name could be tetsufuu, or tetsufu.
tetsukaze is also applicable, however (sometimes you
can use kun readings as part of compounds). Big wind
would be taifuu (like typhoon, yes), and little wind
would be shoufuu. big iron would be tai/daitestu, and
little iron is shoutetsu.
I don´t know if I´d call them that though. It seems
rather unpoetic. What you could do is focus on some
aesthetic characteristic of the daishou - a glint of
color, some interesting historical tidbit, etc. and
name it accordingly. For example, a sword that was
tempered in a snowy mountain might be called "yuki".
Or a sword that was heavily used in some terrible war
might get the name "sorrow". It´s generally a good
idea to be somewhat melodramatic - the best
samurai/shanbara stories are - and come up with a
name. My japanese is good enough that I can help you
translate a name, if you wish
