[gurps] Cool Nerve cell growth info

Hi,
There is a bunch of current research in using adult
stem cell types or stimulating cells so that they act
like cells. This research has also been stopped with
the ban.

For a lot of reasons this makes more sense
biologically then using embryonic stem cells, not the
least of which is antibody and genetic compatibility.

My reason for droping the information on the list was
because of it's links to cyberpunk.

Chris, I don't agree with your anti stem cell ethics
arguments especially when you muddy the waters with
the abortion issue. And I don't agree with you about
the abortion issue either. BUT I didn't post the topic
for anyone to go on a political rant.

I was lamenting the loss of a head start (and good
ethical research, controlled by our govenments) to a
place that is willing to do less ethical research, and
to a system that is not free to shout "you are
ethically immoral" at the top of it's lungs. I can
stand the debate, I can stand being called
unethical... I can not stand for a society that will
muzzel my right to free speech. If this new form of
research actually does hold the promise that initial
results indicate then the western world has put itself
in a poor position because they will not control the
research or the attitudes of the minds behind the
research. Banning something never works - regulating
it does.

Now can we discuss how our world is becoming more
cyberpunk or something? Vk, you were saying about
neural interfaces....
I heard that there was a mouse at the U of A that
they connected to a computer, and I also heard on the
radio that they had connected a quadrapelegic to a
brain scanner and had a program that read his brain
scans and translated them to moving a cursor. That's
cool non-invasive "decking".... have you heard
anything about that?
