LOL, oh, they already are.
So far the characters in my game have found one world with a stonehenge type
circle of obelisks, each obelisk is an enchanted gate leading to various
worlds. They found their way to this world after investigating a world that
was being invaded by strange soul sucking creatures that seemed to mainly be
harvesting the locals.
Their enemies have been doing this on dozens of worlds, invading and
harvesting the locals for their Soulburner Gestalts.
It seems to me that if these things existed there would eventually be entire
empires based on the things. They are such a fast and easy way of harvesting
almost unlimited power that any society that discovered how to make them
would have to eventually create one or be destroyed by someone else who was
using one.
