[gurps] Thermal Scanning through walls?

Hey all
I have a rather odd-ball question. Does anyone know what sort of gadget
it is that fire fighters use to scan for people/pets through walls? I
know that recently the FDNY used some sort of IR or Thermal unit to find
a cat that was stuck behind some heavy brick walls. I have a ferret that
has gotten into my wall, and then made it's way somewhere under the
floor boards. I've already knocked sever large holes, but can't seem to
figure out where she is. So, alternately if you can suggest another
method of finding a small animal that's somewhere under 650 square feet
of floor? This is kind of an urgent situation, she's already been
missing for 12 hours, and ferrets don't last long without food & watter.
The down-side of a very high metabolism.
Thanks,
