The idea here is to reduce the IQ stat to the barest minimal thing it
represents that is not represented by advantages and such. In other words,
if IQ was used for perception before in GURPS 3e, which is what Sean Punch
originally created his "alternative Intelligence" article about - we can
perhaps strip out those things covered explicitely with advantages and
reduce IQ to its core element. At least, that was the hope I had. Problem
solving and speed of solving is one thing. Treating it as a rate of
learning is another. Treating it as a sanity/will aspect is yet another
listed by Sean. If you note however, Will has its own stat now, so IQ is
no longer about "will" per se. Talent not only increments the IQ stat by
its level, but also reduces learning time required per "point" by 10% per.
In a way, Talent can be said to have stripped out learning speed as well.
Once you account for what IQ is supposed to be in GURPS via the advantages
that modify IQ - then perhaps we can see what it is at its most basic level?
