You don't acutally need to make every woman from the (wider) amazon
culture a warrior.

Even very militarist cultures like Sparta, had plenty of non warrior
farmer, they only were not called Spartans proper, but all in all Spartans
proper=EFwere more a warrior cast then a different tribe.

So you also could have a culture where certain girls are taken away from
their families (the second daughter, thoose who pass a test, according to
some oracle) to be raised as warriors maybee roughly equivalent to
janijars (sp?, turkish eliteforce from children of non islamic parents).

Given that they either are the whole army or the elite of the army, they
likely have a good status in their society, and likely few if any parents
will object to have their children taken away, since having a girl sent
away to be amazon likely is a honour.

An other option if you have magic is that men and women have access to
different spells (or have differences in castingtime vs power) and women
tend to have spells that are easily usable in combat, while male magic is
more usefull for peacefull civilian trades or maybe support.
