Typically, when one thinks of the word "small," one doesn't typically also think of the word "tons." Especially not forty of them. Ah, but size is a relative thing. A 40-Ton Pinnace ( http://e23.sjgames.com/item.html?id=LKW006 )  is small when you stick it next to, say, a dreadnought.

Not that small is bad. It still hauls cargo and people around quite nicely, at a fraction of the operational costs of those hulknormus battle cruisers. Remember: not the size, but how you use it.
